Fitzkee Militaria - We regret to inform many of our customers that we are in no way affiliated with JB Military Antiques, also from Perth. It is unfortunate that after 50 years of trading in Western Australia we have to publish this advice.
Sydney is perhaps the only city in Australia with a truly international feel, thanks to its historic major port and its position as the location of the country's main international airport. But it's still a very Australian city, with a nice balance of British heritage and South Sea climate and environmental attractions.

Greater Sydney Statistical Area, 4,429,034. The same contrast is seen in the style of the buildings. While most houses in the suburbs are single-story bungalows built of brick or wood, many buildings in the central business district, where land costs are much higher, are high-rise, multi-story buildings.
Rapid development beginning in the 1960s has transformed the city center, which now looks like a smaller Manhattan rising from the bay shore, although most buildings are not tall by North American standards. Rising above the city center is the Sydney Tower (completed 1981; tower added 1991), which reaches a height of over 305 meters and houses restaurants and an observation deck.
More business centers have sprung up in North Sydney, which is connected to the city of Sydney via the Harbor Bridge, and Parramatta, which is about 25 kilometers west of the city centre. c1918 WWW Australian Army Medical Corps double sided medallion.

Located on the southeast coast of Australia, Sydney is the country's largest city and, thanks to its magnificent harbor and strategic location, is one of the most important ports in the South Pacific. At the beginning of the 19th century, when it was still a small settlement and the first settlers had just arrived inland, it had already started trading with the Pacific Islands, India, China, South Africa and America.

When I was nineteen, I earned extra money for university by selling antique store department rent and listing in online auctions.
After college I worked at an auction house as a catalog editor and appraiser of military antiques and collectibles. Since 2008 my wife Julie and I have owned and operated one of the largest authentic military surplus stores still open to the public and have maintained this website since 2013.

Greater Sydney is spread over a vast area stretching from the Blue Mountains in the west to the Pacific Ocean in the east and from the southern shore of Lake Macquarie in the north to south of Botany Bay.
Only about a third of the area is classified as an urban area, but the majority of the population of the area lives in the urban area. Suburban sprawl, due in part to the land leases of earlier times and the determination for ordinary Australians to own their own homes and gardens, has caused problems for authorities in terms of sewage and traffic.

The sprawl is a striking contrast to the relatively small and compact central business district crammed onto a narrow rocky peninsula between the two arms of the harbor in the city of Sydney proper. The Sydney region is fortunate to be surrounded by many national and regional parks and recreation areas – a unique distinction for such a large city.

Sydney Harbour, Garigal and Lane Cove National Parks are in the city itself; Kur-ring-gai Chase National Park is just to the north; and Botany Bay and Royal National Parks are just to the south. The mouth of the Hawkesbury River, with its many inlets, offers a wonderful sheltered area of water for yachts, while the north and south coasts of the city run along wonderful sandy beaches and are a paradise for water enthusiasts.
Sport. The first view of Sydney, whether from the sea or the air, is always spectacular. Built on low hills around a huge bay, the city is dominated by the Sydney Harbor Bridge, one of the longest steel arch bridges in the world, and the Opera House with its bright and glittering shells.
shaped roofs that seem to echo the sails of the many yachts in the nearby bay. The complex intermingling of water and buildings makes a wonderful impression day or night. Helmut Weitze is always interested in shopping.
Our main area of interest is orders and decorations, swords, daggers, uniforms, helmets, visors, spike helmets, documents, books and other military collectibles - Germany 1800-1945. We buy individual pieces, estates and entire collections. The standard of architecture in the city is generally moderate, although there are a few handsome 19th-century buildings and some modern buildings of high quality, including the impressively designed Opera House.
All the major government buildings of the 19th and 20th centuries are located on the magnificent Macquarie Street, which runs down from Hyde Park to the Opera House. Nevertheless, the general effect of Sydney is attractive, and the innumerable bays and arms of the harbour, which reach out into the land and afford unexpected views from almost every street, make it a very pleasant city.
